Mrs Potter was the wife of Mr Potter and the mother of James Potter I; by consequence, she was the grandmother of Harry Potter[1].

When Sirius Black was sixteen years old he ran away from home, and Mrs Potter invited him to stay at her house; she and her husband adopted him as a second son and allowed him to stay during the holidays[1]. When he got a place of his own the following year with gold left to him by his uncle, he was invited to come back for tea every Sunday[1].

By October 1981 she and her husband had died, so when their son and daughter-in-law were killed, their infant child Harry had to be raised by his aunt Petunia Dursley and her husband Vernon, his only living relatives[2].
